Skin Botox + Rejuran HB in Korea: A First-Timer’s Real Case
Skin botox and Rejuran HB in Korea, explained by the dermatologist who did it: why the pair works, how it felt for a needle-shy first-timer, and VOS prices.
- Skin Botox
- Rejuran HB
I’m Dr. Hongseok Kim, a board-certified dermatologist with 21 years in practice and the founder of VOS Dermatology in Gangnam. At VOS I see every patient myself, from the first consultation to the last injection point, and I don’t hand anyone over to another doctor. So when a patient agrees to share a video of their visit, I like to sit down and explain what we actually did and why, in my own words. This is Suhandi’s case.
The short answer first: skin botox and Rejuran HB are a common first combination in Korea because they solve two different problems in one gentle session. Skin botox, placed very shallowly, calms oil and pores and smooths fine texture; Rejuran HB is a polynucleotide skin booster with hyaluronic acid that supports repair and hydration. Neither changes your face. This case is for anyone curious about trying Korean skin treatments for the first time, and especially for people who are nervous about needles.

Dr. Kim’s quick take
- Skin botox handles the surface (oil, pores, fine texture); Rejuran HB supports repair and hydration underneath. Together they freshen skin without changing your features.
- Rejuran HB has lidocaine in the syringe, so it is a comfortable first skin booster for people who are nervous about needles.
- Book it early in your trip. Skin botox reaches its full effect in about two weeks, and Rejuran works as a course of three sessions.
- In one sitting
- 2 treatments
- Injection bumps
- Usually gone within a day
- Skin botox effect
- Starts in 2–3 days, full at ~2 weeks
- Rejuran course
- 3 sessions, ~1 month apart
“I was reallyyy nervous but honestly felt so taken care of throughout the whole experience.”
A first visit, and a real fear of needles
In her reel, Suhandi says it plainly: she was scared of needles, and this was her first time trying any skin treatment in Korea. I hear this often from international patients. Many have watched dozens of videos, booked a flight, and still feel their heart rate climb when they sit in the treatment chair.
I don’t share a patient’s medical details on this page. What I can share is how I handle a first-timer, because it is the same for everyone. We talk before anything touches the skin. I explain what each product is, where it goes, and roughly how many injection points there will be, so nothing is a surprise. Then we apply numbing cream and give it time to work. For very anxious patients, our price list also includes comfort options such as nitrous oxide sedation, which we discuss in advance rather than in the chair.
Her words afterwards are the part I care about most: she said she felt taken care of through the whole experience. A calm first visit decides whether someone ever comes back.
What skin botox does that regular botox doesn’t
Most people know botulinum toxin as the wrinkle injection that relaxes the forehead or frown lines. Skin botox, also called micro botox, uses the same medicine in a completely different way. Instead of a few deeper injections into muscle, I place very small, diluted amounts just under the skin surface across many points.
At that depth it mainly affects the oil glands and the tiny muscle fibres attached to the skin, not the muscles you use to smile or frown. The result patients notice is skin that looks smoother and less shiny, with pores that appear tighter. Your expressions stay natural. I wrote a longer explanation of the technique, including the jawline version, in my skin botox Korea guide.
The effect generally begins two to three days after treatment and reaches its full level at about two weeks.
Why I like Rejuran HB for a first skin booster
Rejuran is a polynucleotide, often shortened to PN, a skin booster that supports the skin’s own repair rather than filling or lifting it. There are several types, and I choose between them by skin condition. You can see all of them in my Rejuran Korea article.
Rejuran HB combines PN with hyaluronic acid and lidocaine. The hyaluronic acid adds hydration, and the lidocaine, a local anaesthetic mixed into the same syringe, makes the injections more comfortable. For a patient who is anxious about needles, that comfort is not a small detail. It is often the reason I suggest HB over other types for a first session.
Placed shallowly across the face, Rejuran HB tends to make skin look more hydrated and even over the following weeks. It is a gradual change, not an overnight one.
Why the two work well together
Think of it as two jobs. Skin botox manages the surface: oil, pore appearance and fine texture. Rejuran HB works on skin quality underneath: hydration and repair. Each one alone does half the job. Together, they give a fresher, more even look without changing anyone’s features.
There is also a practical reason. Both are placed with fine, shallow injections, so they fit into one sitting and one short recovery window. For visitors with a week in Seoul, that matters more than any brochure claim.
Worth knowing: Rejuran is designed as a course, usually three sessions about a month apart. One session on a trip can still improve hydration and texture a little, but I would rather tell you that before you fly than after.
What happens after the session
Suhandi ended her video with “now we wait for the results,” which is exactly right. Small bumps from the injection points are normal and usually settle within a day. Minor swelling, redness or a small bruise can last two to three days.
The aftercare I give is simple. Don’t wash your face or wear makeup for 24 hours. For the first few hours after skin botox, don’t lie down or press on the treated area. On the day itself, skip saunas, alcohol and intense exercise. Use sunscreen every day for the following week.
If you would like to see how Rejuran results typically develop week by week, I wrote a realistic timeline in Rejuran before and after. If you are still choosing between boosters, my Korean skin boosters guide compares the main types.
How I would plan this for you
Every plan starts with an in-person consultation, because the right amount of skin botox and the number of Rejuran sessions depend on your skin, not on a package name. Here is what I check:
- Your main concern. Oil and pores point toward skin botox; dryness, dullness and a weak barrier point toward Rejuran. Many people have both.
- Your schedule. Book the session early in your trip, not the day before your flight, so any bumps have time to settle.
- Your expectations. If your real concern is sagging along the jawline, a skin booster is not the answer, and I will tell you so. That is what lifting treatments are for.
Our prices are listed below and on our price list. They are the same for every nationality, and the exact amount for you is set at consultation. You can read more on our Botulinum Toxin and Rejuran treatment pages, or see a different kind of case in Manel’s laser and contouring story.
Before you message us
Send us a clear photo of your face in daylight without makeup, your main concern, and your arrival and departure dates on WhatsApp. We reply in English, and I review the plan with the team before you book. Results and recovery vary from person to person, so treat this case as a starting point for your own consultation, not a promise.

Who I recommend this combination for
- Your skin looks dull or dehydrated even with a good routine, and you want it to look healthier rather than changed
- Pores, oiliness or a slightly rough texture bother you more than deep wrinkles
- You are new to injectables and want something subtle with little visible downtime
- You can book it early in your Seoul trip, so small bumps settle before photos or your flight
Not the right first step if: you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have an active skin infection or a flare of acne on the face, or your main concern is sagging. Sagging needs lifting, not a skin booster, and I will say so at consultation.
