Rejuran How Long Does It Last? Results, Sessions & Upkeep
Rejuran how long does it last? After a full course, often several months. Dr. Hongseok Kim of VOS Dermatology, Gangnam, explains sessions and upkeep.

Is "Rejuran how long does it last" the question stopping you from booking, because flying back to Seoul every few months for a top-up isn't possible from where you live?
If your flights aren't booked yet, the part about spacing sessions across trips matters most.
How many months it holds, why a course outlasts one session, what shortens it, and when to go back: that settles whether one Seoul trip is worth it for you.
Hello, I'm Dr. Hongseok Kim, a board-certified dermatologist with 21 years in practice and the Medical Director of VOS Dermatology Clinic in Gangnam. I do the consultation and the injections myself.
Rejuran Healer, HB and Eye are all on my menu, so the choice follows your skin and the area you want treated. If needles make you tense, nitrous-oxide sedation is available here and has been used in more than 5,700 cases. Prices are the same for every nationality, and a medical interpreter for your language is provided at no extra charge.
Many people judge Rejuran a week after the first session, when the early plumpness from the injected fluid settles, and decide it has already worn off.
After a course of about three sessions spaced two to four weeks apart, the change in texture, fine lines and hydration typically holds for around six months, sometimes longer, before it starts to drift. A single session gives a smaller, shorter change, which is why most people plan a maintenance session once or twice a year.
If you're working out whether one trip covers it, send one daylight photo of your face and your Seoul dates on WhatsApp, and ask how many sessions those dates allow. The consult is free.

How long does Rejuran last after one session versus a full course?
One session gives a modest change that usually fades within a few months. A full course builds further and holds longer, because each session adds to the repair the previous one started.
Risks and side effects to know
The first days tell you little about duration. The small raised bumps at each injection point usually flatten within a day or so, and any bruising takes a few days. The slightly plump, dewy look in the first week is partly fluid, and it settles. The change that lasts builds over the following weeks as the skin responds. Results vary by person.
On the months themselves, the published evidence is shorter than most people expect. A 2025 systematic review of polynucleotide studies in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology found that most trials used three to four sessions spaced two to four weeks apart, and followed people for roughly three to four months. In the study that checked at six months, wrinkle improvement was still present, while the texture gains had started to decline without returning to where they began.
So the fair reading is this: the data cover months, and the maintenance habit most dermatologists suggest grew out of that window. Anyone promising years from one session is going beyond what the studies show.
What polynucleotides do in the skin, and why that sets the clock
Rejuran is made of polynucleotides (PN), purified DNA fragments derived from salmon. It isn't a filler and doesn't add volume. The PN is thought to support the skin's own repair: fibroblasts are encouraged to work, hydration improves, and the dermis behaves more like younger tissue. A review in Pharmaceutics comparing PN with PDRN describes how chain length separates the two and how both are thought to support tissue repair.
This is why duration varies so much. The injected material is broken down by the body over time. What remains is the repair it prompted, and that repaired tissue then ages at the speed the rest of your skin ages. Sun, smoking and high blood sugar all wear it down faster.
The three versions differ in formulation and in where they go. I've covered how Healer, HB and Eye differ in my guide to Rejuran types and sessions in Seoul, so here I'll only say that the clock described above applies to all three.

Does Rejuran last longer on some skin than others?
Yes. The same course can hold for noticeably different lengths of time, and most of the difference comes from what your skin faces after you leave.
- Sun. UV damage is constant repair work for skin cells. Daily sunscreen protects the result more than any extra session.
- Blood sugar. Sugar binding to collagen (glycation) makes it stiffer and harder to renew, so repaired skin ages faster in a high-sugar environment.
- Smoking. It narrows small blood vessels and slows the repair that PN depends on.
- Starting point. Skin in its late thirties and forties with fine crepey texture tends to show a clearer change than firm skin in the twenties, where there's less to improve.
- Area. The skin around the eyes moves thousands of times a day and is thin, so it often needs top-ups sooner than the cheeks.
Thin, reactive skin is a slightly different conversation. If that describes yours, my post on Rejuran injection for thin, sensitive skin covers how I'd adjust the plan.
Say you're 41, live in Brisbane, spend weekends outdoors, and have fine crepey lines across the cheeks. I'd plan the full course, and then tell you that sunscreen and a hat will decide how long it holds more than a fourth session would. For you, the realistic aim is a maintenance session roughly every six months, timed to a trip you were already planning.
How I approach a Rejuran course when you live abroad
Every skin is different, so I start with a skin analysis and choose the product and the areas for your face, not a fixed package. With injectables I give the dose your skin needs, no more and no less. Then comes the part that matters for travelers: three sessions need weeks, and cramming them into one week doesn't add anything the studies support.
| Your trip pattern | What fits in it | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| One stay of a week or less | One session | A smaller change that fades sooner; useful as a start or a top-up |
| One stay of four to six weeks, or easy flights from elsewhere in Asia | Two to three spaced sessions | The full course, with the longest-lasting change |
| Two or three short trips over a few months | One session per trip | A stretched course; the gaps are longer than in most studies, so the change builds more slowly |
The clinic is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, plus Saturday from 10:00 to 16:00. It's closed on Wednesdays, Sundays and public holidays, so if you're flying in for a long weekend, Saturday is the day to aim for. For trips of only a few days, what Rejuran can and can't do on a short trip goes through the limits in more detail.
If two visits a few weeks apart are possible, send both date windows on WhatsApp and ask whether the gap between them works as a course. Deposit and payment method are settled after the consultation, so you can ask about both in that same message.

Common claims about Rejuran fading, checked
"It only lasts two weeks." That's true of the first-week plumpness, which is mostly fluid. It isn't true of the change that builds after a course.
"Once you stop, your skin ends up worse than before." Nothing in the evidence suggests a rebound. The six-month data above show the effect drifting back gradually, not dropping below where you started. Your skin keeps aging at its own pace either way.
"More sessions packed closer together make it last longer." The trials spaced sessions two to four weeks apart for a reason: the skin needs time to respond between them. A tighter schedule mainly adds bruising risk.
When should you plan the next Rejuran session?
Most people notice the change drifting somewhere around six months after the last session of a course: makeup starts settling into fine lines again, the cheeks feel drier by afternoon, and the texture loses its evenness. That's the moment to plan, rather than a fixed calendar date.
Maintenance is usually lighter than the first course. One session often brings the skin back toward where the course left it, because you aren't starting from scratch. If you let it go for a year or more, you're closer to starting over, and two sessions may make more sense.
If the cost of upkeep is what you're weighing, what moves the cost of Rejuran explains how areas, product type and number of sessions add up.

Is it safe to keep repeating Rejuran, and what can go wrong?
The common reactions are short-lived: raised bumps at the injection points for about a day, redness and mild swelling, tenderness, and sometimes small bruises that take several days to fade. In the systematic review mentioned above, none of the included studies reported a serious adverse event, and the reported effects usually settled within a week. That review was based on a small number of studies, so treat it as reassuring, not final.
Some people should wait or skip it:
Anyone with a fish or salmon allergy, since the PN is salmon-derived. Anyone with an active acne flare, cold sore or infection in the area. Anyone who had a laser or peel on the same skin very recently, or is taking isotretinoin. Anyone who is pregnant or breastfeeding. If you take blood thinners, expect more bruising and mention it at the consultation.
How long the result holds differs from person to person, which is why I'd rather you judge it at three months than at one week.
If something appears after you fly home, a bruise needs only time. A lump that grows, heat, pain that worsens after day two, or spreading redness needs a doctor at home promptly. Take photos, note your treatment dates, and send both on WhatsApp so your record from Seoul travels with you.
Worth knowing: Genuine product and the correct dose are safety matters, not sales points. Injectables here are drawn through 5μm ultra-fine filter syringes, which are designed to block tiny particles such as ampoule glass fragments.

Before you message us
On WhatsApp, send one front photo taken in daylight without makeup, the date of your last Rejuran if you've had it before, and your dates in Seoul. Then ask the one question this post is about: will those dates fit a full course, or is this a top-up trip? The consult is free, and a single photo is enough to start.
When you visit, I begin with the skin analysis, and the first thing I check is the texture and thickness of your cheek skin, because that tells us whether a course will hold long enough to justify your flights.
