Rejuran Injection Korea for Thin, Sensitive Skin, Explained
Rejuran injection korea explained: what the PN gel does, how Healer, HB+ and i differ, and whose skin it suits. Written at VOS Dermatology, Gangnam.

Rejuran injection Korea, in plain terms: a series of tiny injections of polynucleotide (PN) gel into the upper skin, used for texture, fine lines and thin or reactive skin, not for lifting or volume. At VOS Dermatology every plan starts with a skin analysis, and the dermatologist who examines your skin also injects it. For visitors the real worry is the flight home: will the needle bumps still show at the airport, and who do you ask if something looks odd once you're back?
I'm Dr. Hongseok Kim, a board-certified dermatologist with 21 years in practice, and I do the consultation and the injecting myself at our clinic in Gangnam. I'm writing this for people whose skin has been called too thin or too sensitive for the usual plan at home, because Rejuran is a product designed with exactly that kind of skin in mind.
If you already know which area bothers you, send one daylight photo of it on WhatsApp, together with the dates you'll be in Seoul. The team replies in English, and your dates let the reply work around the clinic's calendar: closed Wednesdays, Sundays and public holidays, open until 16:00 on Saturdays.

What does a Rejuran injection actually put into the skin?
Polynucleotide, or PN: long chains of DNA fragments purified from salmon, prepared as a gel and placed in the dermis in small droplets. The clinic describes the goal as restoring the skin's self-recovery environment, which is a fair summary of what PN is studied for: hydration, repair and fine texture.
The mechanism is quieter than most people expect. A 2025 review in Pharmaceutics comparing PN with PDRN, its shorter-chain relative, describes PDRN as acting mainly through cell signalling, while the longer PN chains also hold water and form a kind of scaffold in the tissue. That is why the skin can look a little more hydrated early on, and why texture changes take weeks.
The evidence is real but modest. A systematic review in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology found PN injections showed favourable results for skin rejuvenation with mostly mild, short-lived side effects, while noting that many studies were small and that larger controlled trials are still needed. I think that is the right frame for anyone reading glowing posts online.
What Rejuran is not: a filler, a lifting device or a fat-dissolving shot. If the salmon origin is what caught your eye, the longer explanation is in what is actually in a salmon DNA syringe.
Healer, HB+ and i: three names on one idea
People searching "rejuran injection korea" usually run into three product names with no explanation of how they differ. All three share the same key ingredient, polynucleotide. What changes is where they go and what is added.
| Product | Where it's used | What sets it apart |
|---|---|---|
| Rejuran Healer | Face and neck | Broad skin regeneration, barrier support, fine lines |
| Rejuran i | Eye area | Formulated for thin eye skin; fine lines and dark circles |
| Rejuran HB+ | Areas where dryness is the main issue | Adds hyaluronic acid for hydration, plus lidocaine |
The manufacturer's product information for HB+ (as listed on the VOS Rejuran page) cites 53% less discomfort during treatment because of the lidocaine. That figure comes from the manufacturer's material, not from my own measurement, so treat it as a rough guide. For the eye area specifically, Rejuran i around the eyes goes into sessions and what fine lines there usually do. The treatment page for Rejuran at VOS lists all three lines.

Words you'll hear in the consult room
A few terms come up again and again, and knowing them makes a 20-minute conversation through a second language much easier.
- Polynucleotide (PN). The active ingredient in every Rejuran line. Longer DNA chains that hydrate and support repair.
- PDRN. A shorter-chain relative of PN. Often confused with Rejuran online; the two are related but behave differently in tissue.
- Skin booster. An umbrella term for injectables that work on skin quality rather than shape. On the VOS menu, Rejuran sits alongside Retizen and Hilo Wave.
- Injection bumps (papules). The small raised dots left at each injection point. They are the gel itself, sitting where it was placed.
- 3D skin analysis. VOS uses 3D Meta-view and 3D Skin Analysis to look at skin layers before choosing a product.
- 5μm filter syringe. The clinic uses ultra-fine filter syringes designed to block tiny particles such as ampoule glass fragments.
- Lidocaine. A local anaesthetic; built into HB+ and sometimes used as numbing cream before other lines.
- Fat-dissolving injection. A different treatment altogether. At VOS this is the V-Line Slim Injection for the jawline and double chin. If that is what you were really searching for, start with how fat-dissolving injections work in Korea.
Whose skin is Rejuran built for?
Adults with thinner, more sensitive skin, and people bothered by fine lines and rough texture, are the group the product is designed around. Those two descriptions come straight from how the clinic lists Rejuran, and they match where the PN research is strongest.
The reader I have in mind here has been told no, or told to be careful, somewhere else. Maybe a laser left redness that lasted weeks. Maybe a doctor at home said your skin is too reactive for heat-based devices. PN works without heating the skin, so for some people in that position an injectable like Rejuran can be considered when energy devices are off the table. That is a possibility to examine, not a promise.
Rejuran is a poor match when the main complaint is something else:
- Sagging along the jaw or cheeks points toward lifting devices such as Ultherapy PRIME or Sofwave.
- Hollows and lost volume point toward biostimulators such as Juvelook Volume or Sculptra.
- Fullness under the chin points toward the V-Line Slim Injection.
One more expectation worth setting early: studies of PN injections generally use a series of sessions spaced weeks apart, rather than a single visit. How that fits a trip is covered in Rejuran types and sessions in Seoul.

What do the first days look like before a flight home?
The small raised bumps at each injection point are the most visible part, and they commonly flatten within a day or so. Redness and tenderness tend to fade on a similar timeline. Bruising is less common but can take several days to clear, and it is the one that shows in photos.
For a trip, that means the order matters more than the date. An injection early in the stay leaves room for bumps to settle and for any bruise to start fading before you sit on a plane or walk into a meeting. An injection the evening before an important event is the plan I'd rather avoid. Specific aftercare, such as when makeup can go back on, is explained at the clinic for the product actually used.
The second half of the worry is what happens once you're home. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention advises medical travellers to carry copies of their records and to arrange follow-up care before they leave. For Rejuran, that means a written note of the product line, the areas treated and the date, so a doctor at home can read it in one glance.
Some signs are not normal, wherever you are: pain that gets worse after the second day, warmth and spreading redness, pus, or fever. Those need a local doctor promptly, not a wait-and-see message.
If your trip is short, send your arrival and departure dates on WhatsApp with a line about the area you care about most. The reply comes in English, and knowing your last day in Seoul is what lets the injection sit early in the stay rather than the night before your flight.

The first thing I want to understand is what "difficult" meant. Did a laser leave darker patches? Did redness last for weeks? Is there active eczema, acne or a cold sore in the area right now? Each answer pushes the decision a different way: Rejuran now, Rejuran later once the skin has calmed, or a different tool.
The clinic works by three stated principles: correct amount, genuine product, specialist. For an injectable like this, correct amount matters in a practical way. Too little spread too thinly does very little; too much in one spot makes bumps that linger. Choosing between Healer, HB+ and i follows from where the problem sits and how the skin tolerates needles.
Doctor's note
When someone flies in after being told their skin is too reactive for treatment at home, I don't assume the other doctor was wrong. They were often right about lasers. Whether a non-thermal injectable is reasonable is a separate question, and it deserves its own look at the skin in front of me.
Worth knowing: If needles are the part you dread, HB+ already contains lidocaine, and the clinic also offers nitrous-oxide conscious sedation, used in more than 5,700 cases to date. Whether either is worth it for a Rejuran session is a fair question to raise at the consultation.

Side effects, risks and who should wait
Most reactions are minor and short: injection bumps, redness, tenderness and occasional bruising. Less often, swelling lasts several days or small firm spots remain longer than expected. Rare but serious problems with any injection include infection and allergic reaction, which is why the warning signs above matter.
Waiting is the sensible choice in a few situations:
- Pregnancy or breastfeeding, since PN injections have not been studied in these groups.
- Active infection, inflammation or a cold sore in the area to be treated.
- A known allergy to fish-derived ingredients or to any component of the product.
- Bleeding disorders, or blood-thinning medication you haven't mentioned yet.
Results and how long the bumps take to settle differ from person to person. Whether Rejuran suits your skin at all is decided at the in-person skin analysis, and "not this trip" is a legitimate answer.
