Korean Anti Aging Before and After: Results Month by Month
Korean anti aging before and after, explained honestly: when each treatment shows change, how long it lasts and what it cannot do. VOS Dermatology, Gangnam.

I'm Dr. Hongseok Kim, a board-certified dermatologist, and I have been treating ageing skin for 21 years. At VOS Dermatology Clinic in Gangnam I see each patient myself, from the first consultation to the treatment, one person at a time. The question I hear most after "what should I do?" is "what will I actually look like afterwards, and when?", and that is what this article is about.
For Korean anti aging before and after, the honest picture is this: a few changes show within days, most build over two to six months, and all of them fade gradually as ageing continues. Non-surgical treatments make a face look firmer and more rested for a period; they do not remove skin or stop time. This guide is for people abroad who want realistic expectations before they plan a trip.
It covers results only. If you want to understand how I choose between lifting, tightening, boosters and toxin in the first place, read my guide to Korean anti aging first.

What "before and after" honestly means here
We do not publish before-and-after photos at VOS. That is deliberate. A photo taken in soft light, slightly from above and with a relaxed expression can look like a lift on its own. A photo taken under ceiling light the morning after a long flight can hide a real change.
So instead of pictures, I describe results in terms you can check against your own mirror: what changes, roughly when, and for how long. When you read anti aging results in Seoul described anywhere, ask the same questions. Which layer changed? On what timeline? Measured how?
Results also depend on the starting point. A face with early laxity and good skin quality tends to show a crisper change than one with heavy descent or very thin skin. That is not failure; it is biology, and individual response varies.
The results timeline, treatment by treatment
These are the timelines documented for the treatments I use most in anti-aging plans at VOS. They are typical ranges, and each one varies by person.
| Treatment | When change starts | How long it typically lasts |
|---|---|---|
| Ultherapy PRIME | Collagen builds over 2–3 months | Designed to last up to 1 year |
| Thermage FLX | Immediate tightening, then gradual improvement over 2–6 months | Typically 1–1.5 years |
| Sofwave | Visible from 1 month, peak at 3 months | Maintained around 6 months after that |
| Botulinum toxin | Begins 2–3 days after, full effect at about 2 weeks | Generally 4–6 months |
| Rejuran | Improvement within 12 weeks; 3 sessions recommended | About 6 months |
| Sculptra | Visible from 4–6 weeks | Usually about 2 years |
The pattern matters more than any single row. Toxin is fast and short. Heat and ultrasound devices are slow and last longer. Collagen stimulators such as Sculptra are the slowest to show and among the longest to hold.

What changes, and what does not
A well-chosen plan can change several things you notice in the mirror. In general, depending on the treatment and your skin, that includes:
- A firmer, cleaner jawline and less softness under the chin
- Brows that sit slightly higher and eyelids that look less heavy
- Skin that feels thicker, smoother and less crepey
- Softer forehead, frown and crow's-feet lines
- Restored volume in hollow temples or cheeks, built gradually
What it does not change is just as important. Excess, heavy, hanging skin stays, because none of these treatments removes tissue. Deep etched lines at rest often soften rather than disappear. Pigmentation, broken vessels and enlarged pores need their own treatments; a lifting device will not clear them.
Worth knowing: The most common disappointment I see is not a failed treatment but a mismatched one: a skin booster expected to lift a jawline, or a lifting device expected to erase a deep frown line. Before you judge a result, check that the treatment was designed to change that particular thing.
The first two weeks: what you see around your trip
The first days tell you more about recovery than about results. With Ultherapy PRIME, there is no downtime, and mild redness for 1–2 days is possible. With Thermage FLX, temporary redness or mild swelling usually settles within hours, and some people notice immediate tightening.
Sofwave redness or swelling fades in about 20–30 minutes. After botulinum toxin, temporary redness, swelling or bruising may occur and usually clears within days, and the effect begins after 2–3 days. Injectable boosters and collagen stimulators, such as Rejuran and Sculptra, can cause swelling or bruising for a few days.
This is why the mirror in week one can mislead you in both directions. Mild swelling after injections can look like more volume than you will keep, and a device session can look like nothing happened. Neither is the result.

Months one to six: when the real change shows
Most of what people call a result appears after they are home. Sofwave becomes visible from about one month and peaks around three. Ultherapy PRIME builds collagen over two to three months. Thermage FLX continues to improve over two to six months. If you want to know more about how the shallow-depth ultrasound behaves, my Sofwave Korea guide goes into detail.
Collagen stimulators follow their own slower curve. Sculptra becomes visible from four to six weeks and keeps building, which is why I explain its pacing separately in my guide to Sculptra in Korea. Rejuran improves skin quality within about 12 weeks across a recommended series of three sessions, as I describe in my Rejuran Korea guide.
A useful habit is to take your own photo before treatment, in the same spot, light and expression, then repeat it at one month and three months. Compare those, not a memory of how you looked last year.
What to look for in those photos depends on the treatment. After a lifting device, look at the jawline edge, the corner of the mouth and the space between brow and upper eyelid. After tightening, look at the texture of the cheeks and the fine lines under the eyes when you smile. After toxin, compare the same expression, not a relaxed face. After a booster series, the change is often clearer to the touch than in a picture, so notice how the skin feels when you apply moisturizer.
Keep in mind that combined plans stack these curves. A toxin effect at two weeks and a lifting effect at three months are different results arriving at different times, not one result growing slowly.
Why two people get different results
Two people can have the same treatment on the same day and see different results. The main reasons are predictable.
Starting point matters most: skin thickness, how much support has already been lost, and whether the concern sits in the deep layer, the dermis or the surface. Age matters less than tissue quality. Sun exposure, smoking, sleep and weight changes after treatment all shape how long the result holds.
Then there is fit. A treatment aimed at the wrong layer gives a small result, however well it is done. That is why the diagnosis matters as much as the device, and why individual variation appears in every result I describe.

How I judge anti-aging results at follow-up
I set expectations before treatment, not after. At consultation I tell you which change I expect to see first, when, and what would count as a good result for your face. That way we are judging the same thing later.
At follow-up, in person or by photos in the same light, I ask what you notice first. Then I compare it with the timeline for what you had. If we are still inside the expected window, I usually suggest waiting. If the window has passed and the change is modest, I say so plainly and explain whether a different layer, a maintenance session or simply time is the better answer.
I also plan maintenance around your response rather than a fixed calendar. Some people hold a result longer than the typical range, some shorter. The plan follows your face.

Before you message us
Send a straight-on and a profile photo in daylight, the one change that bothers you most and your travel dates on WhatsApp. Tell us what you have had before and roughly when. We will reply with which result is realistic for you, how soon you might see it, and what would not change.
Results, timing and recovery vary from person to person. Nothing here replaces an in-person consultation with a dermatologist.
