Korean Sculptra: PLLA Results, Sessions and Seoul Prices
Korean Sculptra guide: how PLLA rebuilds volume, who it suits, why sessions sit a month apart, Juvelook compared and listed prices — VOS Dermatology, Gangnam.

I'm Dr. Hongseok Kim, a board-certified dermatologist with 21 years in practice, and at VOS Dermatology Clinic in Gangnam I carry out the consultation and the treatment myself for each patient, one at a time. Collagen biostimulators are a large part of my work, and Sculptra is the one people from abroad most often recognize from home. I want to explain how it behaves, who it suits and why it rarely fits into a single week.
If you are looking into Korean Sculptra treatment, the short answer is this: Sculptra is a poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) injection that stimulates your own collagen, so lost volume returns gradually over weeks and the result generally lasts around two years. It is a slow, structural treatment, not an instant filler. This guide is for adults abroad weighing Sculptra in Seoul who want to understand the timeline, the risks and the listed price before they plan a trip.

What Sculptra is and how PLLA rebuilds volume
Sculptra is a collagen-regeneration injection. Its main ingredient is poly-L-lactic acid, a biocompatible material that the body gradually breaks down into water and carbon dioxide. Over roughly 4–6 months, the particles are absorbed and disappear.
What stays behind is the response they triggered. Placed in the deeper layers of the skin, PLLA prompts your fibroblasts to build new collagen. That new collagen restores firmness and volume from within, which is why the result tends to look like your own face rather than something added to it.
The product is approved by the U.S. FDA, carries European CE marking and is approved by Korea's Ministry of Food and Drug Safety. You can read the manufacturer's overview on the official Sculptra site.
Who Sculptra suits, and who it does not
In my consultation room, Sculptra fits these concerns most often:
- Nasolabial folds and general facial wrinkles linked to volume loss
- Hollowing in the temples
- Flattened cheekbones or cheeks that have lost their fullness
- People who want a natural, gradual change rather than an obvious one
- People who prefer a treatment session of under an hour
It is not the right answer for everyone. If you need a defined shape by next week, a hyaluronic acid filler does that and Sculptra does not. If your skin is loose but volume is not really the problem, a lifting device may address it better; I explain that side in my article on Ultherapy PRIME in Korea. And if your concern is mainly texture and fine lines, a lighter collagen booster is often enough.

Sculptra vs Juvelook Volume vs Lafullen
Visitors often ask me to compare Sculptra with the Korean biostimulators they have read about. All three build collagen, but they differ in material, depth and how the result feels.
| Aspect | Sculptra | Juvelook Volume | Lafullen |
|---|---|---|---|
| Material | Poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) | PDLLA with hyaluronic acid | Polycaprolactone (PCL) |
| Main use | Deeper volume, folds, temples, cheeks | Laxity with mild to moderate volume loss | Contour, midface and temple volume, hands |
| How it builds | Gradually, from about 4–6 weeks | Gradually, collagen-based | Quick initial volume, then collagen |
| Typical duration | Usually about 2 years (varies) | Varies by person and amount | About 1–1.5 years (varies) |
These are different tools rather than better and worse versions of one tool. If you want the full picture of the Juvelook family, including the Skin and Glam lines, I cover it in my guide to Juvelook in Korea. The product pages for Juvelook Volume and Lafullen have more detail.
Sessions, timing and planning a Sculptra trip to Seoul
Each session takes under an hour. The course is commonly planned as up to three sessions at monthly intervals, because each session starts a collagen response that needs time before the next one. Most people notice improvement from about 4–6 weeks, and the result keeps building after that.
For a traveler, this matters more than the price. One trip usually means one session. I will not stack several sessions into a single week to make a trip feel complete, because that defeats the purpose of spacing them.
Practical ways visitors approach Korean Sculptra:
- Have the first session in Seoul and return a month or more later
- Combine the sessions with visits you already make for work or family
- Start here and continue with a qualified dermatologist at home, if Sculptra is available there
Worth knowing: With Sculptra, the fullness you see on the day of treatment is mostly the fluid the powder was mixed in. It settles within days, and the real change arrives weeks later. If you judge the treatment in the first week, you are judging the wrong thing.

What the treatment feels like, and honest side effects
Numbing cream goes on first. The product is mixed in advance so it is evenly suspended, and it is then placed with fine needles or a blunt-tip cannula, depending on the area. A cannula has a rounded tip, which tends to reduce bruising and irritation, though it requires careful control of direction and depth.
Most people describe mild needle discomfort or slight soreness. Afterwards, temporary swelling, bruising or redness can appear, and mild swelling usually lasts one to three days. You can generally return to daily activities straight away. Avoid intense exercise and alcohol afterwards, and do not rub the treated area hard.
Small nodules are a recognized side effect of PLLA and usually settle. If a firm lump persists, hurts or grows, it needs assessment by a dermatologist rather than waiting. Individual reactions vary, which is one reason I do not over-treat a single spot to speed things up.
Korean Sculptra price at VOS
Here is the Sculptra line from our official English price list, copied exactly. Prices are in Korean Won before 10% VAT, the same pricing applies to all nationalities, and prices may change without prior notice. Please check the current pricing page before you travel.
- Sculptra, 1 vial: ₩1,000,000
- Sculptra, 3 vials: ₩2,100,000 (₩700,000 per vial)
For comparison, Lafullen is listed from ₩1,600,000 for 1 syringe, and JUVELOOK Volume is listed at ₩1,000,000 for 1 vial. All figures are in KRW before 10% VAT and may change.
The Sculptra Korea price you actually pay depends on how many vials your face needs across the whole course. I decide that after examining the areas that have lost volume, not before. If you prepay a multi-vial plan and cannot return, the refund rule on our list recalculates treatments already received at the regular price and applies a 10% cancellation fee on the total package.

How I approach Sculptra at VOS
Every plan starts with a consultation with me and a skin assessment, including our 3D skin analysis. I look at where volume has been lost, how thick the skin is and whether sagging or volume loss is the bigger issue. That decides whether Sculptra is the right tool or whether a filler, Juvelook Volume or Lafullen suits you better. The product detail is on our Sculptra treatment page.
I use Sculptra for nasolabial folds, general facial wrinkles and volume in the cheekbones, cheeks and temples. For patients comparing collagen builders with lighter skin-quality treatments, my guide to Korean skin boosters is a useful companion.
What I will not do is promise a two-year result from a single vial or push a course your schedule cannot complete. If the timeline does not fit your life, I would rather say so in the consultation.

Before you message us
The questions above cover what I hear most. Beyond them, the most useful thing you can send is a clear daylight photo of your face without make-up, one from the front and one at an angle, plus your travel dates and any fillers or biostimulators you have had before. With that, I can tell you whether Sculptra fits, how many sessions to expect and how they could line up with your visits. The clinic is in front of Dosan Park and is closed on Wednesdays, Sundays and public holidays.
Results, timing and recovery vary from person to person. Nothing here replaces an in-person consultation with a dermatologist.
Send your concern, a photo and your dates on WhatsApp, and our team will reply with a clear plan and quote before anything is scheduled.
