Korea Rejuran Recovery Program: How Long? Cost, Reviews, Types

How long a Korea Rejuran recovery program takes: bumps usually settle in a day or two, sessions sit a month apart. Dr. Hongseok Kim, VOS Dermatology…

VOS Dermatology Clinic in Gangnam, Seoul

Will a Korea Rejuran recovery program leave your thin skin bumpy or bruised on the flight home, and how many days should you plan in Seoul?

Read this before you book the flights.

By the end, you'll know what each day after a session looks like, what decides the cost, what reviews get right and wrong, and which Rejuran type suits thin skin. Then you can pick a trip length that fits your face and your budget.

Hello, I'm Dr. Hongseok Kim, a board-certified dermatologist with 21 years of experience and the Medical Director of VOS Dermatology Clinic in Gangnam.

At VOS, I do the consultation and the injections myself. If needles worry you, nitrous-oxide sedation is available, and we have used it in more than 5,700 cases. The price list is the same for every nationality.

I'm writing this because people often book one Rejuran session on a four-day trip and expect the result they read about. In fact, the standard program is three sessions about a month apart.

After each session, the small bumps usually flatten within a day, while pinpoint bruises can take several days to fade. A single session needs only a short buffer before you fly. The full program needs either a long stay or repeat trips.

If you've been told at home that filler would look heavy on your thin skin, send one daylight photo of your face on WhatsApp, along with the one question you most want answered.

What happens in your skin after each Rejuran session

Rejuran is a polynucleotide (PN) skin booster made from purified salmon DNA. It goes into the dermis, the layer just under the surface, in tiny amounts through many shallow injection points. It works on the skin's repair environment (fibroblast activity, barrier strength and hydration), so the skin recovers over weeks. Nothing is being filled on the day.

That's why recovery runs on two clocks. The first is the needle clock: small raised bumps where the product sits, some redness, and occasionally a bruise. The second is the skin clock: changes in texture and fine lines, which build slowly after each session. Travelers tend to plan around the first clock, but the second clock is what shapes the program.

The published evidence matches this pattern. A systematic review of polynucleotides in aesthetic medicine, published in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology, reported improvements in skin quality. The side effects it described were mostly mild and short-lived, such as redness, swelling and bruising at the injection sites.

How long does Rejuran recovery take, day by day?

For most people, the visible part of recovery is short: bumps for a few hours up to a day, redness for about a day, and, if a needle catches a small vessel, a bruise that can last around a week. The table below is general medicine for injectable skin boosters. It isn't a forecast for your face.

WhenWhat you'll likely seeWhat it means for your trip
Session dayRaised bumps at each injection point, redness, a few pinpricks of bloodKeep the evening free of cameras and dinners you care about
Next dayBumps mostly flattened, mild redness or tendernessWalking around Seoul and flying are usually fine; many doctors allow light makeup
Days 2–5Any bruise is at its most visible, then turns yellowConcealer helps; the under-eye area bruises more easily
About one weekMost bruises have fadedA reasonable margin before an event or photos
Weeks 2–4Texture and fine lines change graduallyThe next session usually falls about a month after this one

Under-eye skin is thinner and bruises more easily, so if Rejuran Eye is part of your plan, pay more attention to the later rows. Aspirin, other blood thinners and supplements such as fish oil also make bruising more likely. Raise that with whoever prescribed them well before the trip, and never stop a prescribed medicine on your own.

Worth knowing: Don't judge the result on the day the bumps disappear. Some of the early smoothness comes from fluid from the injections. The change I'm aiming for builds over the following weeks. Look in the mirror about a month later, which is also when the next session usually comes around.

How many days in Seoul does a Korea Rejuran recovery program need?

For one session, plan at least one full day in Seoul after the injection day. Plan four or five days if the under-eye area is included or you have an event soon after you land at home. For the whole Korea Rejuran recovery program of three sessions about a month apart, you need either a stay of roughly two months or two more trips.

Plan the session around clinic days. The clinic is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and closed on Wednesdays, Sundays and Korean public holidays. Friday runs until 20:00, and Saturday until 16:00 with no lunch break.

Say you land on a Thursday morning with six nights in Seoul, your skin is thin and finely creased under the eyes, and you fly home the following Wednesday. I'd put the session on Friday. The bumps have the weekend to settle, and any bruise has five days to fade before the flight. Tuesday would be the last possible day, and for a first session I wouldn't use it: you'd board with a fresh bruise and no day left in Seoul if something looked wrong.

If you plan to come back for sessions two and three, my earlier post on planning a PN skin booster course across several trips explains how the spacing can work. Whatever your trip length, the US CDC's medical tourism guidance applies: keep a copy of the records of what was done, and know who you would see at home if something feels off.

Before you book flights, send your arrival and departure dates on WhatsApp, along with anything injected or lasered on your face in the past month. Ask which day of your stay makes sense for the session.

Which Rejuran methods suit thin, sensitive skin?

VOS offers three Rejuran lines, described on our Rejuran Healer treatment page. Rejuran Healer is for overall skin quality on the face and neck. Rejuran HB combines PN with hyaluronic acid and lidocaine, for hydration and a more comfortable injection. Rejuran Eye (Rejuran i) is formulated for the thin skin around the eyes and its fine lines.

For skin that is thin, crepey or easily irritated, PN often makes more sense to me than volume. A filler adds substance under the surface, and on thin skin that substance can show. PN works on the skin's own repair environment, so the goal is denser, calmer skin with the same facial shape.

The recovery differences between the lines are small. The lidocaine in HB makes the session itself easier, and the eye area tends to bruise more than the cheeks. If you're wondering whether a Rejuran-branded cream could replace the injection, I've written about why the 500 Dalton rule limits what Rejuran skincare can do.

VOS signature treatments: skin boosters (Juvelook, Juvelook Volume, Juveacell, Hilo Wave, Gouri), hand-injected by the doctor, and lifting with original devices (Ultherapy Prime, Thermage FLX, Sofwave, Onda and Opus)
The two things I focus on: skin boosters I inject by hand, and lifting with original devices.

What do Rejuran reviews get right about recovery?

Four claims come up again and again in public review threads. Some hold up medically and some don't.

“It stings more than other boosters.” Partly true. Rejuran goes in through many shallow injections, and plenty of people find that uncomfortable. Numbing cream, the lidocaine in HB and nitrous-oxide sedation are the ways to make it easier.

“The bumps stay for a week.” Usually not. The raised points tend to flatten within a day. A bruise can last a week, and reviewers often blur the two.

“One session and my skin glowed.” The glow on the next morning is real, but part of it is swelling and water. The standard program is three sessions, and the change it aims for builds slowly.

“It's made from salmon.” True. PN comes from purified salmon DNA, so mention any fish allergy before a session.

What decides the cost of a Rejuran program?

Five things move the figure. The first is which line you need: Healer, HB, Eye or a mix. The second is how many millilitres and how many areas, such as the face, neck and under-eye area. The third is how many of the three sessions you do with me in Seoul. The fourth is whether you want extra comfort such as nitrous-oxide sedation. The fifth is whether you pair Rejuran with another treatment on the same visit.

How I approach Rejuran on thin skin

Every skin is different, and the diagnosis and treatment have to differ too. So I start with a skin analysis and then choose the product and amount for your face, instead of a fixed package. With injectables, I use the exact dose your skin needs, never more and never less. We inject through a 5μm ultra-fine filter syringe, which is designed to block micro-particles such as ampoule glass shards.

With someone flying in, the first thing I want to know is the date of the flight home and what's on the calendar the week after. That decides whether I would include the under-eye area on this trip or save it for a visit with more days to spare.

I'll also say plainly what Rejuran won't do. It improves texture, fine lines and how resilient the skin is, but it doesn't lift sagging jowls. If sagging is your main concern, lifting is a separate conversation, and the post on Ultherapy PRIME shot options and pricing covers it. Deep acne scars usually need more than a booster on its own; my notes on Korean acne scar treatment explain the combination approach.

Risks and side effects to know

The common reactions are temporary: raised bumps for a few hours up to a day, redness and tenderness for a day or two, and bruising that usually fades within about a week. Some swelling can last a little longer, especially around the eyes.

As general medicine, it's wiser to wait or skip Rejuran if you have:

  • an infection, active acne flare or inflammation in the area to be treated
  • had a laser treatment or chemical peel on the same skin very recently
  • taken isotretinoin recently
  • a pregnancy, or you are breastfeeding
  • a known allergy to fish- or salmon-derived ingredients, or to lidocaine if HB is planned

If a lump stays firm, redness spreads, the area becomes hot or more painful, or you develop a fever after you've flown home, see a doctor near you promptly. Bring the record of what was injected, where and when. You can also send a photo of the area on WhatsApp.

FAQ

Questions readers ask about korea rejuran recovery program

Can I fly the day after a Rejuran session?
For most people, yes. The raised bumps usually flatten within a day, and nothing about the injection itself rules out a flight. What you might still have is a bruise, which can last about a week, more often under the eyes. If you have an important event soon after landing, put the session earlier in your stay so a bruise has time to fade.
When can I wear makeup again after Rejuran?
Many doctors allow light makeup from the next day, once the injection points have closed and the bumps have settled. On the day itself, it's better to leave the skin alone and keep it clean. If a bruise appears, concealer applied gently over unbroken skin is usually fine. Ask about your own skin at the session, especially if the under-eye area was treated.
Does the Rejuran injection hurt?
Many people find it stings, because Rejuran is placed through many shallow injections. There are three ways to make it easier. Numbing cream is one. Rejuran HB contains lidocaine, which makes the injection itself more comfortable. Nitrous-oxide sedation is also available at VOS, and we have used it in more than 5,700 cases. Tell us if needles worry you.
Is Rejuran an option if I have a fish allergy?
Rejuran is made from purified salmon DNA, so a known allergy to fish- or salmon-derived ingredients is a reason to stop and talk before any injection. Mention it in your first message and again at the consultation, along with any reaction you've had to other injectables. If HB is being considered, mention any lidocaine allergy too. With a known allergy of this kind, skipping PN is usually the safer choice.
When will I see the result of the three-session program?
The bumps disappear within a day or so, but the change in skin quality builds over weeks after each session. The standard program is three sessions about a month apart, and the results typically last more than six months. How quickly you notice texture and fine-line changes differs from person to person, so it's best to judge each session about a month later.

Results, timing and recovery vary from person to person. This article is general information from VOS Dermatology Clinic and does not replace an in-person consultation. Any prices mentioned are from the clinic’s official price list (KRW, before VAT) and may change.
