PN Skin Booster Korea: Why One Trip Rarely Covers the Course
PN skin booster Korea plans: Rejuran runs three sessions a month apart. How to fit them around flights, recovery and follow-up at home. VOS Dermatology…

The PN skin booster Korea is known for is Rejuran: polynucleotide (PN) placed into the dermis through a series of tiny injections, planned as three sessions about a month apart. Travel threads tend to describe it as a single appointment, so the first worry for many visitors in their forties and fifties is this: if you only fly in once, do you go home with a third of a course? Not necessarily, but the plan has to be settled before the ticket is bought.
I'm Dr. Hongseok Kim, a board-certified dermatologist with 21 years of practice, and at VOS Dermatology Clinic in Gangnam I handle your consultation and your treatment myself. I'm writing about timing because, for someone flying in, it shapes a PN plan more than the choice of product does.
If your dates are already fixed, keep your first message short: the dates, one daylight photo of your face without makeup, and the single question on your mind, such as whether one session on this trip is worth doing at all.

What does a PN skin booster actually do?
PN stands for polynucleotide: long DNA-derived chains, usually purified from salmon or trout. Injected into the dermis, PN is meant to support fibroblasts, the cells that make collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid. On skin that has thinned, turned sensitive or lost its bounce, that support tends to show as better texture, hydration and resilience. PN is not a filler, and it does not lift a jowl.
Rejuran, the PN line on my menu, comes in a few forms. Rejuran Healer is for the face and neck and suits sensitive skin, redness and a weakened skin barrier. Rejuran i is formulated for the thin skin around the eyes, for fine lines and dark circles. Rejuran HB+ adds hyaluronic acid for hydration and contains lidocaine to take the edge off the injections.
Worth knowing: Most published PN research comes from Korea, and there is still not much of it. A 2025 systematic review in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology found nine studies with 219 participants in total, rated low to moderate in quality. Wrinkles, texture and pores improved in several of them; results on sagging and elasticity were mixed.
Why one trip rarely completes the course
The Rejuran course I plan is three sessions at one-month intervals, and a full course is expected to give regenerative effects lasting over six months. The monthly rhythm isn't arbitrary. In the studies gathered by that 2025 review, most protocols used two to four treatments spaced two to four weeks apart.
The reasoning is biological. PN works through the fibroblasts, and collagen remodeling is measured in weeks. A second session lands on skin that has begun responding to the first, and the third builds on both. Packing all three into one week removes the time the skin needs between them.
A single session is not wasted. After one round, skin often feels more hydrated and smoother. It is closer to a trial of how your skin responds than to the result of a course, and I'd rather you know that before you book than find out at home.

How can three sessions fit around your flights?
Where you live decides the plan more than anything about your skin. Most visitors fall into one of three patterns.
| If you… | A plan that can fit | Check before booking |
|---|---|---|
| Live a short flight from Seoul (Hong Kong, Taipei, Tokyo, Singapore) | Three long-weekend trips about a month apart | Each visit lands on a clinic day |
| Fly in once a year from far away (Sydney, London, Dubai, the US) | First session in Seoul, the rest closer to home | Whether a dermatologist near you offers a PN booster |
| Stay in Korea for five weeks or more | Two sessions on this stay, the third on a later visit | Whether your stay covers both session dates |
The first practical detail is our calendar. We're open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 10:00 to 19:00, Friday until 20:00 and Saturday from 10:00 to 16:00, with lunch from 13:00 to 14:00 on weekdays. We're closed on Wednesdays, Sundays and Korean public holidays, so a Sunday arrival means your first chance is Monday.
The second detail is the gap before your flight home. Small bumps along the injection lines usually flatten within a day, and bruising, if it appears, can take longer to fade. The review above found that the common side effects were mild and generally resolved within a week. That's why I'd rather the injection happen a day or two before you fly than on the morning you leave.
The clinic is at 806 Eonju-ro, in front of Dosan Park. It's an 11-minute walk from Exit 3 of Gangnam-gu Office Station on Line 7, or 14 minutes from Exit 3 of Apgujeong Station on Line 3.
How I approach a PN plan for someone flying in
Every skin is different, and the diagnosis and treatment have to differ too. I start with a skin analysis and then choose the product, or the combination, for your face. A package picked in advance from a website isn't how I want to decide what goes into your skin.
For a visitor, the question that matters to me before the product is when you can come back. If the answer is not for a year, we'd talk through whether one PN session now, with the rest closer to home, makes sense for your skin, or whether a different approach suits a single trip.
Your main concern matters as much. If it's sagging along the jaw, PN alone won't change that, and an ultrasound or radiofrequency device may belong in the conversation. If it's crepey, sensitive skin that reacts to everything, Rejuran Healer is often where I'd look first. Around the eyes, Rejuran i.
A few things stay fixed whatever the plan. Exact dosage for every injectable, never more and never less than your skin needs. Genuine products and tips, because unauthorized tips are a known cause of side effects. The clinic draws injectables through a 5μm ultra-fine filter syringe. If needles are what worries you, HB+ contains lidocaine, and the clinic has used nitrous-oxide sedation in more than 5,700 cases.
Doctor's note
My advice is to decide the whole course before the first injection: three trips, two sessions on a longer stay, or one session here with a plan for the rest at home. What I'd rather you avoided is bending the interval to fit a ticket. The month between sessions is part of how the course works, and I'd keep it.

Risks and side effects to know before you fly
PN is an injection, so the usual injection effects apply: tenderness, swelling, redness, itching and small raised bumps where the needle went in, plus occasional bruising. In the published studies these were mild and generally settled within a week, and no severe adverse events were reported, though the studies were small. Any injection carries a small risk of infection.
Some people should wait or talk it through first. That includes anyone with an active infection, a cold sore or inflamed acne in the area, pregnancy or breastfeeding (PN is generally avoided then because data are lacking), and a known allergy to fish-derived ingredients, since PN is usually purified from fish DNA. If you take blood thinners or supplements that increase bruising, say so at the consultation; a bruise matters more when you have a flight in two days.
Results vary from person to person, and whether PN suits your skin is settled at the in-person skin analysis, not by a photo alone.
What happens if something feels off after you're home?
In short, this is the question to answer before you fly. The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's medical tourism guidance suggests planning your follow-up care at home before you travel and keeping copies of your records. For PN, that means writing down the product, the areas treated and the date, and knowing which doctor at home you would see.
Most of what happens in the first few days, the bumps and the odd bruise, needs nothing but time. What needs a local doctor promptly is redness that spreads or worsens after the second day, warmth, increasing pain, pus or fever. Those can be signs of infection, and they shouldn't wait for a message across time zones.

Is PN the right booster for your skin, or is it something else?
PN is one of several boosters, and the name a friend recommended isn't always the one your skin needs. You can read more about the Rejuran Healer treatment itself, or compare it with the other skin glow treatments on the menu.
If you're after the dewy look, the piece on boosters behind Korean glass skin treatment explains where PN sits next to hyaluronic acid options. If uneven tone or dark patches bother you more than texture, start with what Korean skin whitening treatment can and can't do. If shine and enlarged pores are the issue, micro-dosed botulinum toxin for pores and oil may be the more direct route. And for the everyday side of skin care in Korea, there's why Korean skin is so often in good shape.

Before you message us
A PN skin booster in Korea works best as a planned course, so the message that helps you most is one that shows both your skin and your calendar. PN results differ between people, and this article is a starting point for that conversation, not a verdict.
