Lip filler in Korea cost: what sets the figure for your lips
Lip filler in Korea cost depends on the product, how many mL, numbing and your days in Seoul. Send a lip photo on WhatsApp to VOS Dermatology, Gangnam.

Planning lip filler in Seoul but worried the quote won't match what happens in the chair, or that you'll fly home with swollen, bruised lips? Lip filler in Korea cost comes down to four things: the product, how many millilitres your lips need, any sedation, and whether lip lines or texture are treated too. Read on before you book anything: you'll know what moves the quote, what can go wrong and how to handle it once you're home, and how many days to leave before you fly.
I'm Dr. Hongseok Kim, a board-certified dermatologist with 21 years of experience, and at VOS Dermatology I do the consultation and the injecting myself.
I wrote this because the number people fixate on, the price of a single syringe, rarely tells you what your own lips will need. My listed prices are the same for every nationality and are quoted before 10% VAT, so the useful figure is the one worked out for your lips.
If you'd like a starting point, send one photo of your lips from the front and one from the side, taken in daylight, on WhatsApp, and ask what lip filler would cost for your lips.

What decides lip filler cost for your lips
Two of them are fixed rules on my price list; the other three come from your lips and your trip.
| Factor | What changes the figure | What to mention when you ask |
|---|---|---|
| Product | Soft or firmer gel; the Belotero line, or an upgrade to Juvederm for an additional fee | Any filler brand you've had before |
| Amount | Fillers are listed per mL; a very thin or uneven upper lip usually needs more than a light top-up | Front and side photos in daylight |
| Lip texture | Rejuran HB, listed on my menu for lips, is a separate item from filler | Whether dry vertical lines bother you more than volume |
| Tax | Prices are before 10% VAT and the same for every nationality | Nothing; it applies to everyone |
What the clinic figure leaves out is the trip itself: flights, hotel nights and the extra days you keep free for swelling. Those belong in your budget too, and they're the part you control.
Which filler goes into lips, and why the product changes the quote
Almost all lip filler today is hyaluronic acid, a gel the body breaks down over time. The FDA's page on dermal fillers describes most approved fillers as temporary because the body absorbs them, which is why lip filler becomes a repeat cost. Lips move all day, so many people find they need a top-up sooner than in the cheeks; treat any durability figure you read as a rough range.
Gels also differ in firmness. On my price list, the soft tier includes Belotero Soft, listed for fine lines around the mouth, while firm gels such as Juvederm Volux are listed for the nose, chin and jawline. A gel firm enough to hold a nose bridge is the wrong material for a lip that talks, eats and kisses; in a lip it tends to feel stiff and can show as a ridge.
Brand matters less for the look than people expect, and more for the feel and how long it lasts. If you've had a particular brand at home and liked how it settled, say so. Staying with a gel you know is a reasonable reason to pay the difference. If you want the whole product list in one place, my overview of Korean filler products and the areas they're used for covers it.

How many millilitres do your lips need?
In short, this is the factor that moves your figure most, and the one a photo can only partly answer. For many first-time lip treatments, a conservative amount, often around one millilitre or less, is placed and then reassessed once swelling settles. More volume in one sitting means more swelling on your flight and a higher chance of the gel sitting where you didn't want it.
Say you have a thin upper lip, a fuller lower lip, and you had lip filler at home about eighteen months ago. Before thinking about millilitres, I'd want to know whether any of the old gel is still there. If the old product has mostly gone, a modest amount aimed at the shape of the upper lip usually serves you better than matching the lower lip's volume.
And if you fly home on day four, I'd keep the amount lower still, because you won't be in Seoul to see how it settles.
The "Korean lip" look people save on their phones is mostly a defined outline and a hydrated, glossy surface, and much less about size. When dry lines and texture bother you more than volume, filler may be the smaller part of the plan. Rejuran HB, a skin booster listed on my menu for lips, works on surface quality instead of adding shape, and it's priced as its own item.
How I approach lip filler when you're flying in
Every skin is different, and every pair of lips is too, so the diagnosis has to come before the treatment. I choose the product and the amount for the lips in front of me instead of reaching for a package. On injectables I hold to exact dosing: no more than your lips need, and no less.
The things that matter most to me are proportion: the ratio of upper to lower lip, the outline at the cupid's bow, and whether the lips sit evenly when you speak and smile. Your flight date matters too, because it changes how much I'd place on a single trip. If your lips are already full and what bothers you is fine vertical lines, I'd rather treat the lines; there's more on that in my guide to matching each wrinkle type to a treatment.
Worth knowing: Lips bruise easily because they're full of small blood vessels. If you take blood thinners, fish oil or high-dose vitamin E, tell me before treatment. Never stop a prescribed medicine on your own just to reduce bruising; ask the doctor who prescribed it.

Numbing, sedation and your days in Seoul
Most people find the lips the most sensitive area to inject, and topical numbing is widely used to take the edge off. VOS also offers nitrous-oxide sedation, with over 5,700 sedation cases on record. If needles near your mouth are what has kept you from booking, ask whether sedation is an option for your lip treatment and how it changes the figure.
As general medicine, swelling after lip filler is usually most noticeable over the first one to two days and eases through the first week. Bruising, if it appears, can take a week or so to fade. For a trip, a gap of a few days between the injection and your flight home gives the swelling time to drop, and gives you time to notice anything unusual while you're still in Seoul.
Plan around my hours: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 10:00 to 19:00, Friday 10:00 to 20:00, and Saturday 10:00 to 16:00, with lunch from 13:00 to 14:00 on weekdays. The clinic is closed on Wednesdays, Sundays and public holidays, so if you land on a Tuesday night, your first clinic day is Thursday. We're at 806 Eonju-ro in Gangnam, in front of Dosan Park, about an 11-minute walk from Exit 3 of Gangnam-gu Office Station on Line 7.
What can go wrong with lip filler, and what to do once you're home?
Risks and side effects to know
The common reactions are temporary: swelling, tenderness, bruising and small firm spots that soften over days. Lips that look uneven in the first week are often still swollen, which is one more reason to judge the shape only after it settles.
Less common are nodules (lumps that persist beyond the first couple of weeks), a cold sore flare in people who get them, and allergic or inflammatory reactions such as redness, itching or swelling that worsens or appears weeks later. The rare, serious risk is vascular occlusion, where filler blocks a blood vessel. The FDA lists accidental injection into a blood vessel as a risk that can damage skin and, rarely, affect vision.
The warning signs are skin turning pale or white, then dusky or mottled, and pain that gets worse instead of easing. That is an emergency.
As a general rule, it's wiser to wait if you have an active cold sore or infection around the mouth, are pregnant or breastfeeding, have a known allergy to hyaluronic acid filler or to lidocaine (many fillers contain it), or have dental work scheduled within the next couple of weeks.
If something appears after you fly home, act on the type of problem. Blanching or worsening pain means going to urgent care or an emergency department the same day, without waiting for a message back. For a lump or asymmetry that remains once swelling settles, see a local dermatologist. Hyaluronic acid filler can usually be dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase, so before you leave Seoul, ask for the product name and the amount used and keep them on your phone.
The same vessel logic applies around the eyes, which I cover in my piece on under-eye filler risks and hollows.
If anything in that list applies to you, such as a history of cold sores, a blood thinner, or filler from a previous treatment, include it in your first WhatsApp message next to your lip photos.

What lip filler threads get right and wrong
"Bruising means the injector did a bad job." That doesn't hold up. Lips are vascular, and bruising is common even with careful technique.
"A lump on day three means it's gone wrong." Often it's early swelling or gel that hasn't settled yet. A lump that is still there after a couple of weeks deserves an exam, though, and shouldn't be massaged hard on your own.
"Migrated, overfilled lips come from bad product." The more common thread in those stories is volume: too much at once, or repeated top-ups on top of leftover gel. That is why the amount, not the brand, is the first thing I'd talk about.
"Allergic reactions to hyaluronic acid are rare." Largely true, but delayed swelling can show up weeks later, sometimes after an infection or dental work, and it should be checked.
