Korean Glass Skin Treatment Before and After: The Timeline
Korean glass skin treatment before and after, explained honestly: what changes week by week, what stays and how long results last — VOS Dermatology, Gangnam.

I'm Dr. Hongseok Kim, and I have worked as a board-certified dermatologist for 21 years. At VOS Dermatology Clinic in Gangnam, I see each patient myself, from the first conversation to the injection, one person at a time. The question that follows almost every glass-skin enquiry from abroad is "What will I look like afterwards, and when?" This article answers only that.
A Korean glass skin treatment before and after makes most sense as a timeline, not a single photo. Hydration and glow from a hyaluronic acid booster can show from the next day, while texture and resilience from collagen stimulators or polynucleotides build over weeks to about three months. If you want to know which boosters are involved and why, start with my full guide to Korean glass skin treatment; this piece is for readers who already know the options and want realistic results.

Why I talk about timelines instead of photos
VOS has no published, consented before-and-after photos, and I would rather be honest about that than borrow images. There is also a practical reason. Glass skin is about how light reflects from the surface, and light is exactly what a camera can change. A different window, a softer lamp or a little dewy base can create the look in seconds.
So I describe results in terms you can check yourself. Does your skin feel less tight after washing? Does make-up sit more evenly? Do the small pores on your cheeks look softer in daylight? Those are the glass skin treatment results I track, and they do not depend on a photographer.
If you want your own record, take a photo before treatment by the same window, at the same time of day, without make-up. Repeat it at the points in the timeline below. That comparison tells you far more than any clinic gallery.
What changes, and what stays the same
A booster works on the quality of the skin itself. When it goes well, these are the changes people usually notice:
- Skin feels more hydrated and less tight, especially on the cheeks.
- The surface looks smoother, so light reflects more evenly.
- Fine, dry lines around the eyes and mouth look softer.
- Pores can look less obvious as texture improves, mainly with collagen stimulators.
- Reactive skin can look calmer, mainly with polynucleotides such as Rejuran.
Other things will not change, and it is better to know that before you travel. Loose skin along the jaw will not lift. The shape of your face will not change. Deep folds will not disappear. Pigment spots and melasma need a different plan. And a booster does not make skin look filtered in every light.
Worth knowing: The biggest "after" difference often comes from what you do not see: less dryness, fewer rough patches, more even make-up. If you expect a dramatic change in face shape, a booster will disappoint you, and I would rather tell you that now.

The results timeline, product by product
Each booster has its own pace. This table uses the documented timelines for the options I use most in a glass-skin plan. All of them vary from person to person.
| Time after treatment | HILO WAVE | JUVELOOK Skin | Rejuran Healer | MiraJet |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Same day | Small bumps possible | Small bumps possible | Small bumps possible | Mild redness for hours |
| Next day | Dryness and glow start to improve | Bumps settling | Bumps settling | Redness usually gone |
| About 1 week | Elasticity starts to improve | Swelling or bruising fading | Redness or bruising fading | Gradual improvement |
| Weeks 4–6 | Hydration effect established | Collagen change becomes visible | Gradual repair | Gradual improvement |
| Up to 12 weeks | Holding | Building over a course | Improvement within 12 weeks | Holding |
| How long it lasts | Typically 3–4 months | About 6–12 months after 3 sessions | About 6 months after 3 sessions | Typically 3–6 months per session |
The pattern is simple. Hyaluronic acid gives the quickest visible glow. Collagen stimulators and polynucleotides are slower but address texture and resilience more directly. Many glass-skin plans combine one fast and one slow option so you see something early and keep improving later.
The first 72 hours: the "after" that isn't the result
The days right after treatment are the part people photograph most, and it is the least representative. Numbing cream goes on first, and small amounts of product are placed across the face with fine needles. Right afterwards, small raised bumps at the injection points are normal. They usually flatten within hours to a day.
With JUVELOOK, temporary swelling, bruising or redness for a few days is possible. With Rejuran, minor swelling, bruising or redness can last 2–3 days. HILO WAVE has minimal downtime, and MiraJet, which uses a high-pressure jet instead of a needle, usually leaves only mild redness for a few hours, up to a day.
Please do not judge your result in this window. Early swelling can make skin look plump and shiny, then settle. A bruise can make one side look uneven for a few days. For aftercare, avoid washing your face and make-up for 24 hours after Rejuran, and skip saunas, hard exercise and alcohol for about a week. After JUVELOOK, avoid the same for at least 24 hours and do not rub the area.

What decides how visible your result will be
Two people can have the same booster and see different amounts of change. In my experience, these factors matter most:
- Where you start. Very dry, dehydrated skin often shows a clear difference. Skin that is already well hydrated shows less.
- Product match. A hydration booster on skin whose main issue is rough texture gives a smaller change than a collagen stimulator would.
- Number of sessions. Rejuran and JUVELOOK are planned as three sessions about a month apart. One session is part of that result, not all of it.
- Sun and skincare afterwards. Sunscreen and a steady moisturizer protect the evenness you have gained.
- Other concerns. Active acne, strong redness or pigment can hide a texture improvement until they are treated.
This is also why I do not promise a specific look. I can tell you which change is likely and roughly when, and then we measure it.
How long it lasts, and what maintenance looks like
No booster result lasts indefinitely, because the skin keeps aging and the products are gradually broken down. The documented durations are the numbers I plan with: HILO WAVE typically 3–4 months, JUVELOOK Skin about 6–12 months after three sessions, Rejuran about six months with the three-session protocol, and MiraJet typically 3–6 months per session.
For visitors, maintenance usually follows one of three patterns. Some return to Seoul once or twice a year for a single top-up. Some plan a longer stay to complete a course. Others use one quick-acting session before an event and accept a shorter-lived glow. Each is reasonable if you know what you are choosing.
If you are weighing the collagen-stimulator side in more depth, my Juvelook guide explains how the three-session course builds. For polynucleotides, my Rejuran guide covers the lines and the protocol. For the full range of product families, see my Korean skin boosters guide.

How I judge glass skin results at VOS
I start with a baseline. At the first consultation I use our 3D skin analysis alongside what I see in person, looking at hydration, texture, pore size and redness. That gives us a starting point that does not depend on memory or lighting.
When you come back for the next session in a course, I compare against that baseline and adjust. If texture has improved but dryness remains, I may shift the balance toward a hyaluronic acid booster such as HILO WAVE. If hydration is good but pores still show, a collagen stimulator such as JUVELOOK makes more sense. For thin, reactive skin, Rejuran often comes first, and for anyone avoiding needles, MiraJet is an option.
If you only have one visit, I tell you plainly what that visit can show and what it cannot. I would rather you leave with a modest, real change than with a promise.

Before you message us
The FAQ covers the questions I hear most about results. The most helpful message includes a daylight photo of your face without make-up, the change you most want to see and your travel dates. With that, I can suggest a booster, an honest timeline for your trip and a quote. The clinic is in front of Dosan Park and is closed on Wednesdays, Sundays and public holidays.
Results, timing and recovery vary from person to person. Nothing here replaces an in-person consultation with a dermatologist.
Send your photo, your goal and your dates on WhatsApp, and our team will reply with a realistic plan before anything is scheduled.
