Hyperhidrosis Botox Korea: What to Look For in a Clinic
Hyperhidrosis botox in Korea, from a Gangnam dermatologist: who it suits, how to judge a clinic, the listed price and the visit — VOS Dermatology, Gangnam.

My name is Dr. Hongseok Kim. I am a board-certified dermatologist with 21 years in practice, and at VOS Dermatology Clinic in Gangnam I handle every consultation and every treatment myself, one person at a time. Excessive sweating is one of the concerns people from abroad bring up with some embarrassment, often at the very end of a message about something else. I am writing this so you can ask about it directly, and know what to expect.
The short answer: hyperhidrosis botox in Korea is a botulinum toxin injection placed in the skin of a sweaty area, most often the underarms, to quiet the local sweat glands for a period. It is quick, needs no downtime and fits easily into a trip to Seoul. This guide is for travelers who want to know whether it suits them, how to judge a clinic for it, what VOS lists it at, and what the visit looks like.

What hyperhidrosis botox actually does
Sweat glands receive a chemical signal from nerves that tells them to produce sweat. Botulinum toxin blocks that signal where it is injected. In the face, the same principle relaxes a muscle; in the underarm, it quiets the eccrine sweat glands in the treated skin.
That is why underarm sweating botox is placed very differently from wrinkle botox. The toxin goes into the skin, not deep into a muscle, as many small, shallow injections spread across the area that sweats. The goal is even coverage, so no patch is left untreated.
As general background, botulinum toxin has regulatory approval in several countries for severe underarm sweating, including approval by the US FDA for one brand. It is a well-established use of the medicine, not an experiment. Still, it treats the symptom locally. It does not change why your body sweats, and the effect wears off over time, so people who like the result come back for repeat sessions.
It also does not treat body odor on its own. Odor comes mainly from bacteria and a different type of gland. Many people do notice less odor once the area is drier, but that is a side benefit, and I do not promise it.
Who it suits, and when to look for a cause first
Primary focal hyperhidrosis is the common type. It usually starts young, affects specific areas such as the underarms, palms or soles on both sides, and has no other medical cause. People describe changing shirts at lunch, avoiding grey clothing, or planning the day around jackets. Those are the people this treatment was made for.
Botox for sweating may suit you if:
- Your underarm sweating is heavy enough to stain clothes or change what you wear
- Antiperspirants, including clinical-strength ones, have not been enough
- The sweating is on both sides and has been there for years
- You want a non-surgical option with no recovery time
Some sweating is a sign of something else. If your sweating started suddenly in adulthood, covers your whole body, wakes you at night, or comes with weight loss, fever or palpitations, I would rather you see a doctor about the cause first. A thyroid problem, a medication side effect or hormonal change can all do this, and injecting the underarm would only hide the signal.
Palms and soles can also be treated with toxin in general, but the injections there are more uncomfortable and the hands need extra care. If that is your main area, message us first and ask whether it fits the listed treatment.

What to look for in a clinic for hyperhidrosis treatment in Korea
Many people who look up botox for sweating in Korea are really asking which clinic to trust. I am not going to rank clinics, and I would be wary of anyone who does it for you. What I can give you is the list I would use if I were booking from abroad:
- A dermatologist who asks about the cause. A good consultation includes questions about when it started, where it happens and your general health. If nobody asks, the plan is a template.
- The same doctor from consultation to injection. Ask who examines you and who actually injects.
- A named, approved product. Ask which botulinum toxin is used and how it is sourced.
- A clear dose and area. The price should match a defined area and a defined amount, not a vague "sweat package".
- An honest answer about duration. Anyone who gives you a fixed, confident number of months is overpromising. Duration varies from person to person.
- A plan for after you fly home. Ask how questions and follow-up work once you have left Seoul.
None of these points is special. They are what a careful clinic should offer anyway. The first two matter most, because sweating treatment looks simple, and simple-looking treatments are where shortcuts happen. If you want the wider picture on toxin brands and safety in Korea, my guide to Korean botox covers it in more detail.

What the visit looks like for a traveler
A hyperhidrosis treatment in Korea is one of the easier things to fit into a short stay. Here is how the day runs at VOS.
Consultation. We talk about where and when you sweat, how long it has been going on, what you have tried, and your general health. I examine the area and decide whether toxin is the right answer or whether another cause needs attention first.
Injection. The session for botulinum toxin takes about 10–15 minutes. The needles are very fine and most people describe the pain as mild, a series of quick pinches. You put your shirt back on and leave.
The rest of the day. For 4 hours, do not lie down on or press the treated area, which includes a heavy bag strap pressing into the underarm. On the day of treatment, skip intense exercise, saunas and alcohol, and do not rub the injection points. Walking, meals and shopping are fine.
Onset. For botulinum toxin in general, the effect begins 2–3 days after treatment and reaches its full level at about 2 weeks. This varies from person to person. If your flight is in three days, you will likely feel the change settle after you are home.
Side effects and honest caveats
The common side effects are local and temporary: redness, mild swelling, small bumps where the needle went in, and occasional bruising. These usually clear within days. Some people feel the underarm is slightly tender for a short while.
Results vary from person to person. Sweating is reduced, not switched off like a tap, and a small untreated patch can occasionally remain; that is one reason careful, even placement matters. The reduction also fades with time, and there is no fixed month I can promise for when it will return.
Worth knowing: Botox for sweating is a temporary, repeatable treatment, not a cure. If you are hoping for a one-time fix, tell me at consultation, and I will be honest about what toxin can and cannot do for your situation.
It is also worth planning the order of treatments on your trip. If you are having toxin in the face as well, or a skin-quality treatment like the one in my guide to Rejuran in Korea, we can arrange them sensibly in the same visit. Patients combining it with a lifting treatment can read my notes on Ultherapy PRIME in Korea before deciding what the trip should focus on.

How I approach underarm sweating botox
My first job is to decide whether this is the right treatment at all. I ask when the sweating started and whether it is focal or all over, because that answer changes everything that follows. If something suggests a medical cause, I say so, even if it means you leave without an injection.
When toxin is right, I plan the area from what I see, not from a standard shape. Underarm skin that sweats is not the same size or shape on every person, or even on both sides. I use officially approved products in exact doses, I tell you which product we are using, and the price corresponds to what we agreed.
I also tell you what it will not do. It will not change the cause of generalized sweating, it will not make the effect last indefinitely, and it is not a treatment for odor alone. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or have a muscular or neurological condition, we need to talk before anything is planned. You can read more about the treatment on the botulinum toxin page.

Before you message us
The easiest way to start is a WhatsApp message with where you sweat, how long it has been going on, what you have already tried, and the dates you are in Seoul. Mention any past toxin treatment and any medications you take. You do not need to send a photo of your underarms; a description is enough to begin, and we will reply with a plan and a quote.
Message us on WhatsApp and I will look at your case personally.
