One Day Acne Treatment in Korea: What a Single Visit Can Do

One day acne treatment in Korea: what fits in a single visit, a same-day schedule, downtime before a flight and listed prices — VOS Dermatology, Gangnam.

Dr. Hongseok Kim, board-certified dermatologist, holding a microneedling handpiece in the VOS treatment room, Gangnam

I'm Dr. Hongseok Kim, a board-certified dermatologist with 21 years in practice and the medical director of VOS Dermatology Clinic in Gangnam. I see each person myself, from the first look at the skin to the treatment, one patient at a time. Visitors often write to say they have only one free day in Seoul and want to use it for their acne, so this article is about what that single day can honestly hold.

The direct answer: one day acne treatment in Korea is realistic as a consultation plus one well-chosen session, not as a cure. In a single visit I can usually calm congestion, clean clogged pores or start work on inflammation and redness, then send you home with a plan you can keep. This guide is for adults with a short stay who want to use one day well. For the wider picture of acne care, including prescriptions and scars, see my full guide to Korean acne treatment.

What one day can and cannot change

It helps to be clear about this before you book. A single visit is good for four things. It gets you a diagnosis from a dermatologist in person. It gives you one in-clinic session matched to the stage your skin is in. It lets me review your home routine. And it sets out a written plan for the months after your flight.

What one day cannot do is switch off the tendency to break out. Oil production, clogging and inflammation come back if nothing changes at home. New spots can appear the week after even a well-chosen session. That is not a failure of the treatment; it is how acne behaves.

So I measure a good one-day visit by two things. You should leave with skin that feels calmer, and you should have a routine that makes sense for you.

Which acne suits a single-visit plan

Some skin is a good fit for a one-day approach, and some is not. In general, a single visit works well when:

  • Congestion, blackheads and oiliness are the main problem
  • Inflamed spots are mild to moderate, not deep and painful
  • There is post-acne redness you want to start fading
  • You already have a sensible home routine and want a clinic boost

It is a poor fit when acne is severe, cystic or scarring as it heals. It is also a poor fit if you are in the middle of a flare with broken, infected skin. In those cases the most useful thing I can give you in one day is an honest assessment and a plan for your own doctor at home, not a device session.

Worth knowing: If you have taken isotretinoin recently, or you use strong prescription retinoids, tell us before your visit. It can change which treatment is sensible that day, and sometimes the right answer is a gentler option than the one you had in mind.

A realistic same-day schedule

This is how a one-day visit usually runs at VOS. The timing is an outline; I adjust it on the day.

Time blockWhat happensWhy it matters
ArrivalRegistration, make-up removed, skin cleansedI need to see bare skin in good light
ConsultationI examine your skin, supported by 3D skin analysis, and ask about your routine and medicinesTells me whether the problem is clogging, inflammation, marks or scars
DecisionWe agree on one session, or on noneOnly one clear goal fits into a single day
TreatmentThe chosen session, from about 30 minutes to under 1 hourNumbing cream first for device work
AftercareSoothing care, sunscreen and written instructionsProtects the skin for the flight and the days after

Our VOS Skin MBTI questionnaire can be part of the consultation. It helps me understand how your skin behaves day to day, which matters when I will not see you again for a while.

The same-day options I choose between

On a single day, I pick the one session that fits the main problem. These are the in-clinic options I use most for acne-prone skin on a short stay.

HydraFacial suits congestion, oiliness and dull, clogged skin. It takes about 30 minutes, needs no anaesthesia and has no downtime, so you can go straight back to sightseeing. It works through gentle exfoliation, deep cleansing and serum delivery, without lasers or injections. The HydraFacial is also my usual choice when someone flies home the next day. I compare it with other facials in my article on the Korean HydraFacial.

Opus suits inflammatory acne where texture is also a concern. It combines plasma energy with radiofrequency, in a session under 1 hour with numbing cream. Expect mild stinging or heat, then temporary redness, swelling or fine scabs for a few days, with strict sunscreen for 3–5 days. Skin looks smoother quickly and becomes clearer over 2–3 months, though that varies. Because of the recovery, I plan Opus early in a trip, never on the last day.

A vascular laser can target red marks left after spots. The Quanta 585 Yellow Laser is the clinic's preferred vascular laser for post-inflammatory redness. It works on marks, not on the breakouts themselves.

If your concern is mainly old depressed scars, one day is a starting point at most. My guide to Korean acne scar treatment explains why scars usually need a series rather than a single session.

VOS signature treatments: skin boosters (Juvelook, Juvelook Volume, Juveacell, Hilo Wave, Gouri), hand-injected by the doctor, and lifting with original devices (Ultherapy Prime, Thermage FLX, Sofwave, Onda and Opus)
The two things I focus on: skin boosters I inject by hand, and lifting with original devices.

Downtime and flying home

Most people reading this are thinking about their flight. Here is how I think about timing.

A HydraFacial fits anywhere in a trip, including the day before departure. Opus needs a few days of buffer, because redness or fine scabs are common and cabin air is dry. If your flight is within a day or two, I will usually suggest the gentler option.

After any session, the skin needs sunscreen, a simple moisturizer and no picking. On the plane, keep your face clean, drink water and reapply moisturizer. Skip scrubs, strong acids and retinoids until the skin has settled, which I will time for you on the day.

Plan photos and important meetings with some care, too. Even after a gentle session, some people look a little flushed for a few hours. Recovery varies from person to person.

Listed prices for same-day acne options

Some items relevant to a one-day acne visit are on our official English price list. I copy them here exactly.

OptionListed price (KRW, before VAT)
Quanta 585 Yellow Laser₩400,000
M22 IPL₩500,000
Vascular & Redness Program (M22 IPL + Quanta 585)₩800,000

The M22 IPL and the Vascular & Redness Program are aimed at redness, pigmentation and vascular concerns, and the program lists multiple sessions as recommended. HydraFacial and Opus are not separate lines on the English list, so their price is given after the consultation, before anything is scheduled. All figures are in KRW before 10% VAT, the same for every nationality, and may change; see our pricing page for the current list.

What moves the total for a single day is simple. It depends on which session I recommend and whether you add a second item. Whether a program is suggested for later visits also changes it.

How I plan a one-day acne visit

I start with the question of what your skin needs most today. If congestion dominates, I choose cleansing. If inflamed spots and texture overlap and your schedule allows the recovery, I consider Opus. If the concern is lingering redness from old spots, I talk about vascular treatment and whether one session is worth it on this trip.

Then I look at what you use at home. Many people who travel for acne care are using too many strong products at once. The most valuable thing I can change in one day is sometimes taking two things out of your routine, not adding a treatment.

I will not fill your one day with extra procedures because you have come a long way. If the honest answer is that your acne needs steady prescription care from a doctor near you, I will say so and explain what to ask for.

Before you message us

The questions above cover what I hear most about single-day acne visits. To plan yours, send clear daylight photos of your skin without make-up, from the front and both sides. Add your arrival and departure dates, your current routine and any prescription treatment you have used, with dates.

Results, timing and recovery vary from person to person. Nothing here replaces an in-person consultation with a dermatologist.

Send your photos and dates on WhatsApp, and our team will reply with a clear plan and quote before anything is scheduled.

FAQ

Questions readers ask about one day acne treatment in korea

Can I have my consultation and acne treatment on the same day?
Usually, yes. At VOS I do the consultation myself and, if a treatment makes sense, it can often follow in the same visit. Send photos and your dates on WhatsApp beforehand so the team can hold enough time. If your skin is irritated or infected on the day, I may suggest waiting instead.
Will my acne be gone after one day of treatment?
No, and I would be wary of anyone who says it will. A single session can calm congestion, clean pores or start work on redness and texture. Acne is controlled over months with daily care and, when needed, prescription treatment. What changes after one visit varies from person to person.
How many days before my flight should I have treatment?
A HydraFacial has no downtime, so it can sit close to departure. Opus can leave redness, swelling or fine scabs for a few days and needs strict sunscreen for 3–5 days, so I prefer it early in the trip. If you only have one free day, tell me your flight time and I will plan around it.
Can I wear make-up after a same-day acne session?
It depends on what was done. After a gentle cleansing facial most people can go back to their normal routine. After a device that leaves fine scabs or a raw surface, I ask you to keep the skin clean and protected first. I give you specific instructions on the day before you leave the clinic.
What should I bring to a one-day acne appointment?
Bring the names of every product you use, any prescription creams or tablets with dates, and a note of anything that has irritated your skin before. Arrive without make-up if you can. Isotretinoin in particular changes what I will do, so tell me about it before we plan.
